Tuesday 13th January 2009, Blackfriars Hall, Norwich - BE THERE!
Tesco's Appeal against the last application rejected by Norwich City Council in January 2008 is going to be heard by Public Inquiry from Jan. 13th to 16th at Blackfriars Hall, Norwich starting 10.00 a.m. on Tuesday Jan 13th.
What we need you to do....
• Turn up for some of the Public Inquiry - especially the beginning, if you can
• Wear one of our specially designed lapel stickers, which make it clear to the Inspector who all these people are in the public section! These will be distributed outside to those who wish to be identified with our cause
• Write to the Evening News - eveningnewsletters@archant.co.uk
It's worth pointing out that the attempt to put a store on this site has now been rejected 4 times over a period of 4 years, and it is not wanted or needed by the local community.

How many times do they have to be told?
Our community has said no to Tesco's proposals time and time again. But still they try to impose their unwanted shop on us.
* 5000 people signed a petition
* Almost 1200 people have written to the City Council to say no.
* The Council has rejected their proposals three times already.
* When Tesco sent their own postcard out seeking support the vast majority replied (at their expense) saying no.
Since the beginning of the Unthank Tesco saga Tesco have inundated the various planning authorites with a bewildering array of applications and appeals against negative decisions.
Four planning applications to the city council. One withdrawn by Tesco, the other two unanimously turned down by the council.
A withdrawn appeal to the planning inspectorate against the their first failed application to the council.
And now they're appealing to the planning inspectorate again!
So far, every application and appeal by Tesco has been met with hundreds of objections. With your help, it will be the same for the every time they try.

Who we are and what we want
We are a group of Norwich residents (Residents Against Unthank Tesco) who are campaigning against the building of a new Tesco store in the city's Unthank Road. We are completely independent of any local business or political party.
For many, many reasons we believe that a proposed shop would severely reduce the quality of life in an area that we enjoy living in.
Our neighbourhood is special and we want to keep it that way. Join us in our campaign to Say No To Tesco!

And after all that you don't even save money on your shopping!
In October 2007 anti Tesco campaigners in Cambridge compared the prices of goods in an average shopping basket at a Tesco Express store with prices in local branches of the Co-op, The goods range from a two pint bottle of semi-skimmed milk to a 500ml bottle of washing up liquid, from a loaf of white sliced bread to a four pack of toilet roll.
Tesco Express basket: £33.70
Co-op basket: £32.57
You would SAVE £1.13 by shopping at the Co-op!
